Super Clone Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades 38 mm
Last March, Super Clone Omega globally introduced the Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades collection, featuring 10 new models distinguished by their vibrant dial colors and available in either a 38 mm or a 34 mm stainless steel case.
Following our initial article showcasing the various dial colors, we had the chance to spend a few days with one of the new models, the Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades Co-Axial Master Chronometer 38 mm with a Saffron dial, and we are now excited to share our impressions and live photos.
With a diameter of 38 mm and a height of 12.3 mm, the watch is perfectly sized for most wrists and wears very comfortably due to its ergonomic design. The fully polished and symmetrical case is made from 316L stainless steel, valued for its resistance to corrosion and high shine after polishing. The lines are streamlined with softer edges that enhance the watch’s overall elegance. The conical crown, embossed with the Replica Omega symbol, screws in to ensure water resistance up to 15 bar (150 metres / 500 feet), making the watch suitable for everyday use, including diving and adventure activities. First introduced in 2002, the Aqua Terra name aptly describes the exceptional reliability of these timepieces both in water (Aqua) and on land (Terra). The striking dial, in a warm Saffron color similar to the yellow-orange hue of saffron crocus stigmas, is achieved through an innovative manufacturing process. Made from brass, the dial is sun-brushed outward from the center and then coated with a layer of lacquer for added depth. The rhodium-plated hands and applied triangular indexes are filled with white Super-LumiNova that glows blue in the dark. A trapezoidal date window at 6 o’clock completes the features. Virtually scratch-proof (graded 9 on the 1-10 Mohs hardness scale), the domed sapphire crystal protecting the dial has an anti-reflective treatment on both sides for clear visibility at all times.
The case back, with a wave-edged design, reveals the advanced automatic movement through a transparent sapphire crystal, allowing appreciation of its rhodium-plated finish with Geneva waves in arabesque.
Omega’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8800 operates at a frequency of 25,200 vibrations per hour (3.5 Hz) and has two barrels in series for a power reserve of 55 hours.
The Master Chronometer certification indicates that each watch and its movement have passed the stringent tests set by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS), ensuring the highest standards of quality, precision, and magnetic resistance.
To obtain this certification, the movement is initially tested by the Official Swiss Chronometer Control (COSC) with precision criteria of -4/+6 seconds per day. Then, the complete watch and its movement undergo eight Master Chronometer tests set by METAS, with criteria of 0/+6 seconds per day.
To protect the watch from magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss, the movement includes several components made from antimagnetic materials, such as the silicon balance spring.
The stainless steel bracelet has also been redesigned for improved comfort and elegance, now featuring smaller and rounded links with alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces. It is secured to the wrist with a triple folding clasp with double safety push-buttons. The lug width is 19 mm.
